Did you heart rate go up when you read that title? Yes? It might be time for us to have a little chit chat. Pull up a chair and let me give you a few reasons you have business anxiety, and some solutions to the problem.
You are over booked and/or under charging
Simple. If you look at your calendar and you want to scream, you are probably overbooked. If you are a service provider, that probably means that you are also under charging. If you are “booked and busy” to the point that you cannot enjoy your life outside of your business, you are probably undercharging.
How can we solve this one? Take a look at your budget and goals. Do you need to make as much, more, or less than you are making right now to cover your needs and/or goals? If you are:
Making just the right amount but you’re slammed: Get more efficient outside of your physical product or service. How can you utilize better systems and processed in order to ensure that you aren’t spending mass amounts of time doing tasks that aren’t needle moving. You may also need to raise your prices at this point but let’s not jump there as a first line of attack.
Making more than you need and you are slammed: TAKE LESS. Say no. Just stop. Seriously. 😂 Life is not about making money and eventually dying. Don’t live trapped in that mindset. Take some of that money and treat yourself to relaxation…and outsource some stuff, BB.
Making less than you need and you are slammed: Let’s work on incrementally raising those prices. Not a big earth shattering amount, but enough to be able to slowly take on less work while making the same amount of money, and then within X amount of time, make more money while working less.
Most of this advice may seem like it applies to service based business only, but let’s consider this…if you are selling out of every single on of your product launches but you aren’t making enough cash…raise the prices. If you are working 24/7 and making way more than you need…hire out some of your workload. Social media? Photography? Order fulfillment? Staffing?
You are posting and praying to Instagram
If you are solely relying on Instagram to make sales, you are in for a lot of really crappy lessons. My number one tip here is to consider the funnel/journey your customer is taking. Is their journey “finds me on IG then purchases something”?
Time to add more steps. Can you send them from Instagram to your blog? From Instagram to a freebie? How can we create omnipresence across a variety of channels, all leading them to free resources, discounts, and eventually a purchase? MOST people won’t see you and your product or service on Instagram and immediately make a purchase.

You are lacking confidence in your offerings
Are you confident in your product? Confident in your customer service skills? Confident in your delivery or follow through? If ethe answer to this one is no, it is time to spend some time refining your processes and product suite.
If you feel like you’re missing the mark on what you are selling, it might be time to reevaluate who your ideal customer is, and if your product or service is really filling a need that they have. Or maybe you just aren’t communicating your value effectively. The fix for that? Get clear on what your value is and then talk about it, on ALL of your channels! If communication is key in our personal relationships, why wouldn’t it help us to ease our business anxiety?
If you feel like you could do a better job of doing your job, review the way you do things from start to finish. Figure out where you could do a better job of providing great service and then make the improvements. As a part of Beyond Boss Studio I offer business consulting, and my favorite service is process mapping and auditing. I sit down with clients and thoroughly map out everything they do in their business and note improvements that they could make for their own peace of mind (bye bye, business anxiety) as well as customer experience.
You don’t have a network or way to develop the skills you need
If you feel like you are alone on an island (or your 3rd floor office that lacks air conditioning), than you are probably missing a proper community of entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship is lonely, but it does not have to be. Having a network of women that get it, that openly talk about their failures, success, trials and errors is life altering.
If you have skills and knowledge that you are desperate to obtain but don’t know where to start beyond Google, you are probably missing a solid reliable resource.
The bottom line is that your business anxiety is, for the most part, “figureoutable”. You do not have to sit around and wait for it to pass. Taking action is the BEST way to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
