You’ve pressure washed your porch, organized your kitchen cabinets, and now you are sitting back at your computer, completely overwhelmed by your business. Oh. Crap. This is a hot mess. Never fear my beautiful friends! I have 4 things to jump on right now to spring clean your business!

Organize Your Digital Life

Is your desktop a hot mess? Are your files organized and backed up? No? Alright, let’s start here.

1. Get an external harddrive.
   • Add folders for 2022
   • Add folders to that folder for each month. I know, I know, but stay with me here.
   • Dump clients, projects, etc into the correct months OR further organize. For example, as a photographer I have folders for RAW, CULLED, EDITED and SOCIAL SHARE inside of every month. I then create a separate client folder within each of these. The best way to do this is to copy and paste individual folders BEFORE dropping anything into them. When I create my monthly folders at the beginning of the year, I create the category folders and paste them into every single month! You will thank me, and yourself later!
     
2. Backup everything that is important from your computer. Put it on your external and in a cloud system like Google Drive or DropBox.
   
3. Clean out unused documents, duplicate photos, screen shots and anything you don’t really need on your desktop, pictures, downloads and documents folder.
   
4. Delete unused apps.
   
5. Add a desktop background that you love.
   
6. Add organization folders to your desktop. Think of categories like Finance, Clients, Personal, Junk/Random etc. Then organize those folders with more folders (I know, I know). Inside of finance, I might include: Receipts, Reports, Invoices, etc.
   
   

Update Your Website

Chances are things have evolved since your last update. Some things to consider would be:

1. Your bio – make any necessary updates or changes to reflect life changes or changes in your business
   
2. Your photos
   
3. Your offerings
   
4. Contact information
   
5. FAQ

Freshen Up Your Work Space

This can be as simple as organizing your desk/workspace or as involved as painting your space, hanging new art, adding an area rug, or installing peel and stick wall paper. Whatever it is, do a little update to where you work. It will help you stay inspired and excited to show up.

Update Your Networking Profiles, and Business Social Media

Beyond Boss Insider? Pop into the portal and update your profile/photo. Head into LinkedIn and create a business page and then make sure you are an employee of it. Utilizing another networking platform like The Knot? Update there! Make sure your photos, copy and contact information are up to date anywhere that someone might try to find you to connect or send you business!

The bottom line is that it a little bit of time and energy to spring clean your business can pay off handsomely in the form of increased sales, or even just a more positive growth mindset when you approach work!
