As we stare down the barrel of a new year, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the prospect of “starting from scratch”. Everyone is setting new goals and intentions, and leaning into the thrill of a new number on the calendar. Whether you are a professional or an entrepreneur, right now is a great time to start thinking about what 2022 career moves are necessary to get you where you want to go.
1. Ask yourself important questions:
Who are you? How have your life experiences impacted who you are today, good or bad? What parts of your life make up your true identity (are you a mom? a driven career woman? an empath?
What makes you tick? What do you enjoy doing? What makes you jump out of bed in the morning, excited to start your day?
What do you want do differently outside of your work? Do you want to be more organized? Spend more time with your family? Travel more?
2. Update your resume, LinkedIn and/or your website
Take the time to really jump into how you show up in front of your ideal employer or customer. Really diving into this project might help you realize how much you really have done, how good you are at what you do, or on the flip side…how much you really hate your current job. That’s okay too!
Your personal mission statement will help you define who you are and how you want to leave an impact on your world. You can find some examples here.
4. Brain dump your vision for one year from today.
Start writing down your vision for one year from today. How do you want to feel? Who do you want to be surrounded by? What do you NOT want to be feeling? Get really specific and in your feelings on this one. If you could wake up and be living your ideal life, what would that look like?
5. What are you willing to sacrifice to get there?
If you have been considering a career change or shift in your business, are you willing to give up some time? Financial freedom? The comfort of a steady paycheck?
