What 👏 a 👏 year. When Ashley assigned a “2021 Beyond Boss Recap” post to me in ClickUp all the hard work (and results of said hard work) came flooding back. I hate to brag. Truly. But I also believe in transparency in business, especially when we are teaching other women how to do navigate their businesses and careers.
I am breaking down our 2021 into three sections: growth, clarity, goals and walking you through the how and why.
Heather went from being a contractor to an employee.
Our goal at the beginning of 2021 was to hire a paid social media intern. We were excited at the prospect of helping a young woman with some social media experience and education. We put the call for applications on social media and LinkedIn and the results were um…overwhelming. We received over 300 applications. Enter Ashley. She began her internship with us in May and we knew by July that we had to make room in our budget to hire her as our in house social media manager. Making her Beyond Boss’ second hire!
We launched our Beyond Boss Insiders membership in January and immediately welcomed over 20 members. Which was HUGE. By December 2021 we had just over 90 members and had expanded our offerings.
We went from teaching 4 classes a month and some virtual happy hours, to 4-6 classes per month, a library of OVER 70 classes, and monthly in person networking (and friendly hangout) opportunities.
Our Facebook group membership grew 50% since welcoming Ashley in May, and the groups engagement grew 92%.
We had incredible brand partnerships this year with The Skin Center, Henne Jewelers, Kate Spade New York, Liquid IV and more. These brand partnerships resulted in additional revenue for Beyond Boss, and more opportunities to serve our members with awesome content.
We were able to give raises to both of our employees to well over the recommended hourly minimum wage (you know, the one that everyone SHOULD be getting paid), and keep them salaried so that they could take time off, and work on their own schedules without seeing a reduction in their paycheck.
We hosted a Summer Kick-Off event for over 75 women in May, and partnered with more incredible businesses.
We honed in on our target market and ideal Insiders member. They are dedicated to their career but laid back about their approach to life.
We focused on utilizing our market research to provide valuable content in the areas that our ideal customer REALLY wants and needs.
We placed heavy priority on building a team that would continue to serve our active, paid members without all of the pressure to create and deliver landing on myself. This priority came before taking a paycheck myself as our goal is to grow this membership TO THE MOON, and it is essential to me that the value is always delivered. It also means that the machine continues to run when someone takes a day, week, or month off.
Developing easy systems so that the content and value are always flowing from and for our team.
