I just got back from a trip with my girlfriends – no kids, no laptop on the cruise, no “just checking in” client messages. I leave my business for days at a time now, and guess what?
The world doesn’t end.
The systems work.
The clients and members stay supported.
And everything continues to grow… without me gripping it tightly.
But that wasn’t always the case.
The Lie That Keeps You Stuck
For years, I believe the only way to build something successful is to always be on. I would panic leaving my photography business even if I was traveling FOR photography, or enjoying a family dinner.
Hustle. Grind. Stay ahead. Make it look effortless while never letting a single ball drop.
Sound familiar?
The truth? That version of “success” isn’t success at all.
It’s fear in disguise.
- Fear that if I rest, it will all fall apart.
- Fear that if I step away, people will forget about me.
- Fear that ease means laziness—and laziness means failure.
If You Can’t Step Away, It’s Not Freedom
Here’s what I keep learning (again and again):
- If I believe my business can’t run without me for a few days, I’ve built a trap, not a business.
- If my worth is tied to my output, I’ll never feel safe enough to slow down.
- And if I’m gripping something that tightly, I might be blocking the very abundance, alignment, and peace I’m asking for.
When I give myself permission to trust the systems I build, the team I empower, and the foundation I lay—things don’t fall apart.
They expand.
Rest Isn’t the Reward. Rest is the Reset.
The right clients continue to show up.
The community stays connected.
My creativity returns.
I return.
Every time I step away, I’m reminded that rest doesn’t mean I’m falling behind.
It means I’m choosing to trust myself, my vision, and my process.
Ask Yourself This…
If you’re feeling stuck or burnt out, pause and ask:
Am I chasing more because I truly want more, or because I’m afraid of what will happen if I stop?
Because sometimes the next level isn’t about doing more.
It’s about releasing the death grip and letting it flow.
So PLEASE…
Let this be your sign to loosen your grip.
To trust your foundation.
To take the damn trip.
You’re not falling behind.
You’re finally catching up to yourself.
Rest IS the reset, love. Laughing with people that light you up is the reset. Just existing is how we get aligned enough to know where we need to refine, systematize, and SCALE.
