So often we get focused on doing and achieving that we forget to really check in with ourselves on what TRULY makes us happy. Through years of trial, error and well, failures, I have learned that making mindset shifts for a more fulfilled life and business can work wonders for my overall happiness and fulfillment.
1. Embrace the Journey, Not Just the Destination
There will always be phases of life where we are simply getting from point A to point B, just trying to survive, but do we really want every single season of life to look like that? Even in the most exhausting, trying of seasons I try to circle back to my focus on the small victories. Not just in business, but in life.
I remember crying in my daughters nursery at 3am, just wishing we could get from point A of NO SLEEP, to point B of sleeping through the damn night. I would be lying if I said that I spent time focusing on our little victories in that trying season of life, but every once in a while that glimmer when she would smile at me at 2am made the journey worth the struggle.
How to Shift This Mindset: Start keeping a gratitude journal (even in your phone notes) where you jot down what you’re thankful for each day, including your achievements, no matter how small.
2. Shift from Scarcity to Abundance
Getting stuck in the cyclical thought loop of “there is not enough time, resources and opportunities” leads to nothing but stress and anxiety. However, embracing an abundance mindset can changed everything. I’ve learned that there’s plenty of success, happiness, and resources available for everyone.
How to Shift This Mindset: Surround yourself with positive influences. Whether it’s uplifting podcasts, inspiring books, or motivating friends, fill your space with abundance! When you spend your time consuming energy from people and things living in scarcity, you become it.
3. View Challenges as Opportunities for Growth
Let’s be real: challenges can feel daunting. I know that it sounds corny and cliche, but I truly believe that every challenge is an opportunity to GROW, whether you are able to embrace it in the moment or not. When I face difficulties in my business or personal life, I try to shift my perspective and ask myself, “What can I learn from this?”
How to Shift This Mindset: Whenever you encounter a setback, take a moment to reflect on what it can teach you. Turning challenges into lessons can transform your approach to obstacles.
4. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
Oh, the comparison game! It’s so easy to look at what others are doing and feel like you’re falling behind. But here’s the thing: everyone’s journey is unique. Instead of comparing, I try to focus on my own progress and what I can do to better myself.
How to Shift This Mindset: Unfollow accounts that make you feel less than. Curate your social media feeds with content that inspires you rather than brings you down.
5. Prioritize Self-Care Without Guilt
As women, we often juggle a million responsibilities and feel guilty for taking time for ourselves. When I take care of myself, I show up better for my business and loved ones. Showing up for ME, in the form of routines (health and fitness in particular), is how I do my best work.
How to Shift This Mindset: Schedule “me time” into your calendar just like any other appointment. Your workouts, hobbies, and caring for yourself should be number one on your priority list.
6. Cultivate a Growth Mindset
You have to train your mind to see every setback as an opportunity to catapult yourself forward. Take risks, try new things, and be willing to fail without the fear of judgement.
How to Shift This Mindset: Challenge negative thoughts when they arise. Replace “I can’t do this” with “I’ll learn how to do this.”
Making Mindset Shifts for a More Fulfilled Life and Business
Making these mindset shifts hasn’t always been easy for me, but they’ve been incredibly rewarding. A fulfilled life and a thriving business start with how we think and approach challenges.
