It’s hard to remember that everything you see is a highlight reel. Keep in mind that everything isn’t always what it seems. Here are three truths about me and my life that might surprise you.
Truth #1: I don’t know what I’m doing half the time.
I may look like I have it together, but let me be clear – I’m winging it over here y’all. Some days I’m not sure how I keep up. Once I accepted the fact that I will mess up sometimes, it made things a lot easier. I’ve learned to not stress about the stuff I cannot control, and you should too. None of us really know what we’re doing anyway! Luckily, every failure is a lesson. Surrounding yourself with other business owners can help too. Truth #2: I care about what other people think.
Oof, this one is hard to admit. As much I like to tell myself I don’t care, I really do. I don’t think I care much about what random people or strangers think I guess, but I definitely care what the people in my circle think and I’m often considering this when I’m making decisions. I’m still not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.
Truth #3: I still live at home with my parents.
Ah yes, I love being 26, not married, no kids, and still living at home (insert sarcasm here). You may wonder how this is possible when I own my own business and have two other jobs, but that student loan debt will get ya LOL. If you’re like me and sometimes feel like you’re the only 26 year old that still lives at home, studies show that 52% of milennials still live at home wit their parents. While sometimes I dream of moving out, saving money is very appealing to me at this point. I’m fortunate to have two great parents who are happy to have some company, too! I’m cherishing this time with them because I know one day, I will be really happy I had that extra time.
People have so much going on that you don’t see from the outside. You probably wouldn’t know these truths about me from the outside looking in. Stop comparing yourself to what you see on the internet. Do you!
