There’s this strange energy that hits in August.
It’s part “where did the year go?” panic and part “I am so tired I could lay in the grass and not get up.”
If you’re feeling it too… hi, I’m right there with you.
The first half of my year was a sprint. Goals, launches, events, deadlines, new clients, new ideas. Some of it worked beautifully. Some of it fell flat. All of it took energy.
And now? My brain and body are sending very clear signals:
It’s time to slow down before you burn out completely.
But here’s the thing, burnout doesn’t always mean something is broken or that you need to blow up your business. Sometimes it’s just your system waving a little red flag saying, “Pause. Regroup. Realign.”
What “Regrouping” Actually Looks Like for Me
Not disappearing. Not quitting. Just shifting gears.
- Auditing my commitments. If it drains me and isn’t necessary, it’s off the calendar.
- Tightening my focus. Less “do it all,” more “do what matters most.”
- Taking quieter wins. Not every success needs to be loud and public right now.
- Making space for inspiration. Walks, books, conversations that light me up, without forcing them into content.
This isn’t a retreat from ambition. It’s maintenance. It’s giving myself the bandwidth to think bigger again.
Why I’m Doing It Now
Late summer is this built-in checkpoint. The chaos of the year’s start has settled. The “new year, new me” hype has worn off. The holidays haven’t yet rolled in.
It’s the perfect time to look at what’s working, what’s not, and what I actually want the rest of my year to feel like.
I don’t want to coast through the final months feeling resentful, drained, and disconnected.
I want to walk into fall with clarity, and that means stepping back to see the full picture.
If You’re Feeling It Too
You don’t have to share every wound to be honest about where you’re at.
You can honor your need to regroup without turning it into a dramatic pivot or disappearing act.
This might be your permission slip to:
- Cancel the projects that feel heavy.
- Revisit your “why.”
- Make the second half of your year feel more aligned than the first.
You’re allowed to pause without quitting.
You’re allowed to breathe before you build again.
You’re allowed to take care of the builder as much as the business.
💬 If you’re in this same regrouping season, I’d love to hear what you’re shifting or saying “no” to right now. And if you need a space to do that work with people who get it, you know where to find me.
