Welcome to a new blog series! I started doing these reports a few months ago for our Insiders members, but wanted to share my thoughts on social media trends to everyone!
I always like to start these off with explaining what a trend is, assuming the reader has no idea what it means.
A trend is a general direction in which something is developing or changing. Some people say that it is something that is popular at the time. Which are both very true!
But how does this apply to social media?
Social media is always changing and evolving. If you are someone who is social media savvy (like me lol), you probably see a new trend on TikTok every single day. I know I do and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with them, but when you are trying to market something, it might actually be a great opportunity for you!
Trends on social media can also help you grow your account significantly (mixed in with original content of course). And keep in mind that when I say grow I don’t just mean increasing that follower number. I mean ensuring those new followers are aware of what your brand does and even converting them to customers or clients! How does that sound!?
Like I just mentioned before, social trends are a great way to market your business or brand. BUT, we can’t forget about the original content! Having a good mix of trends + original content can enhance your chances of marketing well.
So, what has been trending in the last 30 days?
Using Humor (and being relatable)
Everyone loves a little humor. At least I hope so! Marketing with humor is one of those things where you need to read the room. If your audience doesn’t like humor, then don’t add it. But adding some humor to your feed might be a good way to show how your brand is. Your audience and potential customers might relate to humor which is great for the way you take your marketing approach!
Need some ideas?
- Create a carousel graphic including funny myths about your product, service or industry. These are also great when created in a short form video!
- Add a meme to enhance your graphic.
Using Conversations To Drive Purchases
How can this work?
Send an initial message when you get a new follower on social media. We use this method on Instagram for Beyond Boss as well as for some of our Agency clients! Some people might think this is a bit too naggy, but we have seen so much growth in website clicks, Facebook group members, and more this past month. Send an initial short message with a link to your website, special discount code, or a link to book your service.
Go out and do a little bit of community engagement! Respond to all dm’s and comments you receive. Leave comments on posts in your niche or people who you believe could be a potential customer! Make the conversation. You aren’t nagging. I promise.
Be honest about what you deliver. Whether it’s a product or service, being honest is the best approach.
So, to sum everything up…
If your audience likes humor, utilize this!
Start those conversations.
Do what you can now to relate to your audience.
