On this first episode in a 3 part series, our sponsors The Skin Center as busting myths about Botox. On this episode, expert RN Injector, Laura Surman joins me to give you fact or fiction about my own friend, botox.
This one might be a somewhat touchy topic for some people. When we hear “women’s empowerment” many visualize that as someone that is all natural, empowered in the body and face that she was given at birth, that has evolved with her without makeup, skincare, hair products, or god forbid, cosmetic work.
Celebrities like the Kardashian Jenners, JLO or Jennifer Anniston have been getting cosmetic procedures done for decades. I am a firm believer that pretending like they are NOT partaking in these procedures is far more damaging to women’s self esteem than normalizing them.
When we log into social media or turn on the TV and see Kylie Jenners flawless skin, curvy but smooth body, and plump lips and then hear her say “I work out 3 times a day and eat clean to achieve this look”, it sets an unrealistic standard. One that we quite literally could never achieve.
When we say “oh yeah no, it’s not genetics, I get botox” or “no, I did not just magically disappear by genetic arm fat, I had coolsculpting”, we are lifting the curtain and empowering each other to do whatever the hell makes us happy, and what could possibly better than feeling the freedom to do, or not do whatever makes us happy and confident?
