On today’s episode, the OG Beyond Boss Podcast co-host Jess McGun joins me for a “Pandemic Life Checkin”. We chatted about all the annoying, uncomfortable things that we are experiencing, and some ways that we found to workaround them and SURVIVE.
This year has not been easy of any of us, and the toll that it has taken on women and families is unfathomable. The National Women’s Law Center reported that out of the 1.1 million jobs that were lost in September, 80% were women. No, this is not normal, nor is it forever.
You can read the full jobs report here.
We want all of our listeners to know that they are not alone. That your feelings are valid, even if there are people who have experienced things in a more intense way than you have, OR if your friends are “over the pandemic and do not care anymore”. Even if your problem today is that you are overwhelmed with your family and they forgot your dang waffle fries.
Human beings are not designed to live in the way that we have been asked to live in the last few months. We are designed for human connection. For collaboration. For touch and hugs and laughter.
We HAVE to find workarounds. We HAVE to continue to take care of ourselves. We have to ask for help and offer help.
We invite you to call a friend, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and have the conversation that we had on this episode.
- Phrases we are tired of hearing.
- What has been the hardest thing.
- What we have learned/career pivots.
- Things that we have changed in our lifestyles.
- Finding your threshold/filling your COVID cup.
- Three things we promise each other that we will do for ourselves.
