I used to DREAD Sundays. Sunday Scaries was a real thing for me. I always felt anxious about all the things I had to accomplish the week ahead. How can I possibly be productive at three jobs, get a good night’s sleep, feed myself, keep up with my house/apartment, spend adequate time with family or friends, go to the gym, and have a skincare routine (I mean seriously who has time for this)?! There’s not enough time in the day! If you have children, I imagine your Sundays are much scarier than mine (praying for you, GF). Not to mention, Sunday’s always feel like they’re over in the blink of an eye. If you can relate to these feelings, it’s time to give your Sunday routine a much-needed makeover. Have yourself a “Self-Care Sunday”, if you would.
In this blog, I’ll be sharing my Sunday routine, which includes a little self-care, productivity planning, meal prepping, personal growth activities, and more.
1. Don’t set an alarm (if you are able). Not worrying about what time you have to wake up not only makes you feel more energized and productive on Sundays, but it makes the day feel more special. Even though I don’t sleep in late, waking up at 8 AM on my own versus with an alarm clock just makes me feel so much better.
2. Put down your phone as much as you can. Make it a point to stay off social media today. You’d be surprised how much more you get done without your phone as a distraction.
3. Clean & Laundry. Because I usually don’t have time to clean during the week, there’s something so satisfying about cleaning on Sundays. Fresh sheets, clean floors, and an organized desk. Ahhh, it’s the little things. Something as small as cleaning feels like a huge accomplishment and gives you instant gratification. This will make you feel more productive and keep you pushing throughout the day.
4. Meal prep. Meal prepping makes my life so much easier throughout the week. Whether you are feeding a family or just yourself, making your meals, or even just planning them out, will save you so much time during the week and allow you to focus on other things.
5. Participate in your favorite self-care activity. Sometimes mine is catching up with a friend over brunch (give me all the mimosas), going to the gym, taking my pups on a walk, reading a new book, or putting on a facemask and watching a new Netflix series. It doesn’t need to be long, but at least 30 minutes to an hour will send positive vibes into your Monday.
6. Set goals. Whether you’re a corporate boss babe or an entrepreneur, goals are important. If you already have goals, look them over and check your progress. If you don’t have them, now’s the time! Figure out a plan to get you closer to your goals this week.
7. Plan your week. Personally, I like to write out everything I know I have to do for the whole week. Once I write it all down (it’s usually a mess), I organize the list into both my planner and my phone. I put the most important things first, and obviously the least important last. I don’t know about you, but there’s something about crossing things off a list that just keeps me going!
8. Pick out your outfit. If you’re headed into your workplace on Monday morning, pick out your outfit the night before and you will feel less rushed on Monday morning. You will be more eager to get out the door and take on the day, versus feeling rushed, anxious, and late.
